What Causes Subluxations?

Subluxation

Not only must your spine help you stand erect, it must allow you to move while allowing the vital nerve communications between your brain and your body. Your spinal cord and nerve roots are the most vulnerable part of your nervous system. That’s why we’re so interested in your spine. If your spine isn’t working right, your nervous system probably isn’t either—even if you feel great and don’t have any symptoms!

There are many causes of spinal subluxations. They fall into three broad categories. Here are some of the causes our patients have mentioned:

Dr. Ken Asks some important questions of interest to Woodstock residents - Chiropractor Woodstock Dr. Ken Asks...

Where do most Woodstock residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Woodstock newborn.
Why are chiropractors wary of the germ theory?
Louis Pasteur originated the idea that germs caused disease. Yet, on his deathbed he recanted, declaring, "It's not the seed, but the soil." Meaning, it's not the germ that causes disease, but the condition of the body that allows the germ to thrive. Chiropractic care in our Woodstock office is designed to bolster your resistance so germs don't see you as a good host.
